DALLAS — The Dallas Cowboys picked up the third-year linebacker Jordan Matthews from the Minnesota Vikings in the second round, the team announced Thursday.
The pick comes just days after the Cowboys selected LSU safety Keanu Neal with the fifth overall pick.
Matthews will be the Cowboys’ third LB since the draft.
The Vikings selected Oregon defensive tackle Noah Spence with the second overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft.
The Cowboys have yet to announce the position of Matthews’ eventual team.
He was drafted to compete with Ezekiel Elliott for the starting spot at linebacker.
Matthews was one of the best players in the draft when he emerged as a first-round pick, starting 15 games.
